    Many people who set out to lose weight experience difficulty. They complain that no matter what they do, weight loss remains elusive. Why does this happen? According to nutritionist Bhakti Arora Kapoor, one must look beyond the ‘calories and macros’ and know about the ‘hidden factors’ that could affect weight. Here are six things to know about whatever is stopping you from shedding those extra kilos. Scroll down.

    Hydration

    Water intake is important for weight loss. Poor hydration can lead to fatigue and cravings, making it harder to stick to fitness goals, the nutritionist said in an Instagram post. She added that one must drink at least 8 glasses of water every day or try infusing water with slices of lemon or cucumber for taste.

    Blood Sugar Levels

    Did you know that fluctuations in blood sugar can lead to energy crashes? One must focus on balanced meals that include fibre (whole grains, veggies), protein (lean meats, legumes), and healthy fats (avocado, nuts) to keep their blood sugar levels stable, and prevent frequent hunger.

    Gut Health

    According to the expert, a healthy gut microbiome is essential for weight loss. As such, you must incorporate probiotics (yogurt, kefir) and prebiotics (bananas, onions, garlic) into your diet to support digestion and overall gut health.

    Stress

    High levels of stress can trigger emotional eating and hormonal changes that can impact weight negatively. Practise stress management techniques like meditation and yoga, and go for daily walks to clear your mind and enhance mood.

    Hormonal Imbalances

    Some health conditions like thyroid and autoimmune disorders can affect weight, the expert said. Consult a healthcare professional for personalised guidance and support.

    Sleep Quality

    Inadequate sleep can disrupt the hormones that regulate hunger, leading to increased cravings. You should prioritise sleep by establishing a calming bedtime routine. Aim for 7-9 hours of good quality sleep every night.
